ROYAL Mail bosses have confirmed they are proposing to trial a new Post Office Local service in Pleasley.
It will replace the branch at 528 Chesterfield Road North, which is being closed, and operate across the road from the current location.
A spokesman said: “The current sub-postmaster has resigned and the premises are being withdrawn for Post Office use. A new operator has been appointed, providing us with the opportunity to incorporate Post Office services into the community centre in Pleasley.
“Consultation on the proposed move has begun and will finish at the end of March 2012. If we decide to go ahead with the move, this should happen some time in May 2012.”
Mansfield MP Sir Alan Meale has welcomed the proposal.
