Mansfield to keep second fire engine

CAMPAIGNERS and union leaders are celebrating after a dramatic u-turn ensured Mansfield Fire Station will not lose one of its two fire engines.

The town is also keeping its specialist aerial ladder platform after Nottinghamshire Fire Authority responded to a public campaign and petition.

The authority, which monitors Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, met last Friday and decided to amend cuts put forward in a fire cover review.

Bosses also confirmed the upgrading of Edwinstowe from a retained to a full-time staffed station.
