THE Mansfield Building Society has announced that the ex-financial services director at Saga, Gev Lynott, has been appointed its new chief executive.
Mr Lynott, who was also financial services director at Asda, executive director at Marks & Spencer and held senior roles at National and Provincial Building Society, succeeds Nigel Quinton who is leaving the society at the end of this week to take over as chief executive of the Furness Building Society, based in Cumbria.
Married with three children, Mr Lynott, is a qualified accountant and brings with him a wealth of experience in the financial services sector.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Lynott said: “To say that I am proud and privileged to be taking over the reins sounds like a cliché, but that is precisely how I feel.
“It is an honour to be appointed and I will be working tirelessly with my new colleagues to ensure that The Mansfield continues to thrive as a successful, independent mutual building society.
“Nigel goes with everyone’s best wishes and appreciation for his successful stewardship over the past three years.”
There can be no better evidence of this than the fact that The Mansfield remains financially sound against a backdrop of continuing turmoil in the financial markets.”
