Dozens of Mansfield and Ashfield businesses who have taken the Career Champions Pledge are getting ready to help learners when they head back to school this September.

Created by the Mansfield Learning Partnership with The Chad, Mansfield 2020 and A-Star Media Ltd, Career Champions gives businesses the opportunity to engage with young people with a range of activities designed to increase employability skills.

With added support from Chad and Mansfield 2020, businesses who take the pledge to become Career Champions will also get publicity to promote their work with young people to the local business community.

Berni Dickinson, director of the Mansfield Learning Partnership, said: “Career Champions is part of a wider programme of work we’re undertaking with schools to ensure all young people in Mansfield have the skills they need to secure work when they leave education.’

“I think it’s great that we’re also partnering up with schools and businesses in Ashfield to offer something that is really unique, and putting our youngsters ahead of the game when it comes to seeking employment.”
