MEMBERS of the business community attended the first Tuesday Club, launched by Chad and Mansfield marketing agency Parker PR.
The business networking event took place at Indian restaurant Vhojon on Nottingham Road last week.
It was the first in a series of monthly events which will take place on the second Tuesday of every month at a different restaurant each time.
More than 20 people joined Chad editor Tracy Powell, news editor Ashley Booker and Graham Parker for an informal, two-course meal where they discussed how Government policy is affecting businesses and how it can help those based in Mansfield and Ashfield.
Some guests highlighted confusion surrounding a perceived ‘lack of strategy’ and direction, while others expressed concern about the demise of regional development agencies like EMDA.
Independent financial adviser Phil Netherwood, of Advice About Money, said he liked the informal manner of the event.
He said: “It was a very relaxed atmosphere. We were all there to benefit our own businesses but that way of doing it was in a relaxed way compared to some networking events out there. It was about meeting people that you could genuinely network with.”
Chad editor Tracy Powell hailed the club’s first meeting as a success.
She said: “I enjoyed networking with many people I had not me before and learnt about businesses in the Chad’s area that I didn’t know existed.
“I am looking forward to developing more local business knowledge and meeting more members of companies in Mansfield and Ashfield at our next get together in April.
“I would urge anyone who doesn’t get involed in networking to join us - our informal approach and relaxed atmosphere makes it the perfect place to start.”
And Graham Parker, of Parker PR, said members had been impressed with the event: “The new business networking event gave everyone just what they were looking for; the chance to meet new people, to talk about business issues in a constructive and positive manner while enjoying some great food.
“The feedback we have had all suggests that the relaxed and convivial format is precisely what people are looking for, everyone I spoke with said they will be back and telling others to join in as well.”
The next meeting of the Tuesday Club is at Efes Turkish Restaurant, on Outram Street, Sutton, on 12th April, 6.30pm for 7pm start.
