BOSSES at Huthwaite family firm Caterway celebrate a recession-busting expansion of their frozen food distribution centre.

Managing director for the firm Rob Atkinson, left, and his father Ray Atkinson, chairman, celebrated the grand opening of the facility with 50 guests including Nottinghamshire county councillor Keith Girling recently.

Mr Atkinson said: “As the deep freeze facility represents a major investment for Caterway we wanted to mark the occasion with something a bit special; hence the grand opening with Coun Girling being invited to open the facility.

“I am also delighted that our chairman, Ray Atkinson, addressed all guests since it was his original insight into our growing markets that provided the impetus for this project to get off the ground.

“We also thought that the occasion was a bit of good news for the area as we have plans to recruit in the coming months.

“In fact we have added significantly to our work force over the last few weeks.”

The new facility opened following an increase in business over the past few years which also saw the firm taking on new employees.

Founded in 1937, Caterway supplies all sorts of goods for fast food restaurants and catering establishments, including cleaning materials, equipment and work wear.

The firm has another distribution centre in Leeds.
