Huthwaite food service specialist Caterway hopes to add £500,000 of turnover to yearly trading figures of more than £7.5m by expanding into cleaning products and services.
The business of 77 years standing has built a strong reputation as a service provider for the fast food industry, particularly fish and chip shops.
It moved into the freezer sector a few years ago, supplying everything from kebabs and pies to freezer machinery.
Now the company are looking to further add to their range of services by offering cleaning products that are designed to increase hygiene standards and, with it, consumer confidence.
“Every food outlet is subject to inspections from environmental health officers where they are scored on a scale of one to five, with one being poor and five exceptional,” said sales director James Staniland.
“We have found that the majority of our customers think they are doing a good job with their cleaning, but might only be using washing up liquid, a regular floor cleaner or something similar.
“The range of products we are offering, some 350, are industry-approved and can help move the cleanliness of a venue from a satisfactory score of three right up to the top end.
“Where people are buying food from a premises, one of their main concerns is cleanliness, and those who use these products will give their customers peace of mind.”
Caterway, who also have depots in Leeds and in Alicante and Malaga in mainland Spain, have already secured their first contract to provide cleaning products - Alice’s Sandwich Shop, just around the corner in Huthwaite.
The business aims to up turnover over the next three years to between £15m and £16m, with the cleaning arm to make a ‘significant contribution’.
