A licensee couple at a Huthwaite pub are raising a glass to mark the completion of a major refurbishment.

The Peacock Inn in Huthwaite has been given a new lease of life following a full £40,000 revamp by owner Admiral Taverns. The refurbishment, which has taken just under three weeks to complete, has touched both the inside and outside of the pub, paving the way for new signage, lighting, toilets, plus a new family play area at the 19th century inn.

A new food menu has also been launched following the makeover and Dave Lewis, who with wife Belinda has been at the helm of the Peacock for three years, said: “We’re delighted with the refurbishment, which has transformed the feel of the place while keeping the pub’s original character.

“Admiral has done a really good job and the support we’ve received from them has been first class. The pub is a real cornerstone of the village which is why at the weekend we decided to host a family fun event for the community which I’m glad to say went really well.”

Mark Lonsdale, Admiral’s business development manager for the Nottinghamshire region, who works closely with the couple, said: “The Peacock Inn is a great traditional village pub and a real focal point of its community. It was decided that the pub was in need of investment, which we were more than happy to do and I share Dave and Belinda’s excitement following the completion of the refurbishment project.”
