Fuel station measures

TRADING Standards officers have been testing nozzles at fuel station forecourts in Mansfield in a bid to ensure motorists are getting fair measures.

Tests established if individual nozzles were providing the correct amount of petrol or diesel at the advertised price, and safety checks were carried out.

Across the county, 60 per cent of nozzles checked were found to be supplying more fuel than the amount indicated on the pumps, while 25 per cent were supplying less fuel than indicated.

Officers ordered five nozzles to be removed from use and a further 12 notices were issued. In all cases, faults were down to wear and tear and not any deliberate tampering with equipment.
