After a short break for the Summer, the Ashfield and Mansfield district’s leading local enterprise support agency, LEO, has announced its brand new programme of free workshops aimed at helping individuals to ‘Get Set’ to start up in business.
The small LEO team, now based in Mansfield, has already provided advice and guidance to over 500 individuals living in the districts of Ashfield and Mansfield in the last eighteen months, with many of these going on to successfully start businesses in their own home towns.
The free workshops, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) were introduced at the end of 2011 to complement the LEO team’s often over-subscribed one-to-one service. To date over 200 people have attended.
There are 5 different one-day workshops - all available to local people fulfilling the ERDF criteria - entitled; Money Basics, Business Planning, Marketing Basics, Get Set and Employing People. Each one is designed to help those starting a business - but not yet trading - or simply considering whether or not self-employment and running a business is for them.
“We’re hoping that the new term will be a trigger for people of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds, to put a new start into action. If anyone is considering whether they could pull off running their own business or if they are thinking about self-employment - we can help them find all the answers,” said Judith Scholar Winfield, LEO Programme Manager.
The first of the new workshops is called ‘Get Set’ - an introductory session designed to help individuals to decide if going it alone is the right move to take.
“In the group setting each attendee’s business idea is explored and the skills and experiences required to make it a success are identified,” explained Judith.
‘Get Set’ takes place at The Summit Centre, Pavillion Road, Kirkby in Ashfield on Saturday 15th September between 9.30am-4pm, and is quickly followed by a ‘Money Basics’ workshop at Pleasley Landmark, Mansfield on Wednesday 19th September, also running between 9am -4pm.
If anyone living in the Ashfield or Mansfield districts would like to come along, they should contact LEO on 01623 457158, or visit www.leobusiness.org for more details and the full workshop calendar.
