A family firm from Ollerton which is in the running for an industry award has turned to Mansfield Town fans for help.

A1 Flue Systems has been shortlisted for a Family Business United Award, and part of the entry requires those in the running to get friends and family to vote for them.

The company had already rallied its 130-strong workforce and then had the bright idea of turning to its football family – as it advertises at the club’s Bishop Street Stand.

The directors of the company and their children stood outside the Ian Greaves Stand ahead of the club’s game against AFC Wimbledon, giving out sweets as fans cast their votes.

Director TJ Moir said that the company – which is among the UK market leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of commercial and industrial chimney, flue and exhaust systems – was pleased that so many Stags fans showed their support.

“We can’t thank the fans enough for their support in voting for us as they made their way into the ground,” said TJ.

“It really means a lot to us, and hopefully it’ll give us a big boost in the eyes of the judges at Family Business United.

“We entered the competition as part of our company’s 40th anniversary celebrations because we’re proud of being a family business that employs local families.

“The judges are looking for ‘family firms that use their family nature and values to build successful businesses and represent great ambassadors for the sector as contenders for these awards’, and that’s us to a tee.

“Just being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement, but we want to go all the way and win it for the A1 Flue Systems family.”

Voting is still open. Anyone who wants to support A1 can VOTE HERE
