A planning application has been submitted by Sainsbury’s to build a key-cutting and dry cleaning kiosk outside the front of its Mansfield store.
The blueprint, submitted Sainsbury’s is for the 18 m sq ‘pod’ next to the entrance of the Nottingham Road store.
It will be occupied by high-street chain Timpson Ltd, who will offer watch repairs, engraving and shoes repairs as well as key cutting and dry cleaning.
The planning statement reads: “The proposed development to the existing supermarket is to enhance the shopping experience for customers and to provide and additional service within.
“The proposed design of the new extension is considered to remain in keeping with the existing building.
“Pods such as this are a concept that Sainsbury’s has introduced at many of its stores.
“It would operate as a drop-off point and collection point for products.”
The application will be before planners at Mansfield District Council in the coming months.
If Sainsbury’s is given the green light, it would be the third Timpson’s key-cutting service to open in Mansfield.
The others are placed on Stockwell Gate in the town centre, and at the Tesco Extra superstore on the Oak Tree estate.
