BUSINESS networking group the Tuesday Club is not only doing its bit to boost the local economy, but is also raising much-needed cash for charity.
The organisation - run by Mansfield marketing agency Parker PR and Chad - has taken supporting charities to its heart during its regular monthly meetings at various bars and restaurants in the Mansfield and Ashfield area.
The group, which now has more than 180 members, has been holding regular raffles to raise cash for charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research.
Graham Parker, from Parker PR, says the charity initiative came from the members.
He said: “A few of the members knew about the charitable work I do and asked if we could do something regularly at the meetings.
“As a result we have had members donating prizes for our raffles, such as a free photographic session from Mission Studios and home made jams. It’s great to see businesses willing to support charities in this way, it shows that corporate social responsibility is alive and well in amongst our members.”
The next meeting is at the Nell Gwyn pub on Sutton Road, Mansfield, on 10th July - which will include a BBQ in the recently completed covered beer garden.
The Tuesday Club is a non-profit making partnership and has visited 17 different venues since it was launched in March 2011.
