A NEWSTEAD-based florist is predicting a boom this Christmas despite the bleak economic climate.
Bosses at online firm Bunches.co.uk say they are expecting to see an eight per cent increase in sales compared to this time last year.
The company is expecting to deliver 40,000 bouquets over the Christmas period.
Manager director Danielle Turner says the firm’s success is down to the fact that people prefer to shop from home because it is quicker and it can be better value for money.
She said: “Although some consumers may not instantly associate flowers with Christmas, December is actually our busiest time after Mother’s Day and Bunches is expecting another successful year.
“Flowers make a thoughtful Christmas gift and red bouquets are undoubtedly our best sellers at this time of year.”
Bunches began as a stall at Mansfield Market 22 years ago and now has an annual turnover of £7million.
