Bulwell St Mary’s Holiday Club success

To mark the celebration of Epiphany, when the three Magi visited Jesus after his birth, Bulwell St Mary’s Church has held two New Year Follow the Star Holiday Club sessions which proved immensely popular with more than 30 children in attendance each time.

Co-ordinated by church member Kerry Palmer and backed by his enthusiastic team of helpers Joyce White, Paula Palmer, Eleanor Lang, Maureen Pates, Helen Dexter, Robert and Jillian Naylor (among others), ensured the success of a meaningful and fun-packed event.

Playing their parts were youthful helpers Josh and Thomas Dyer, Abbie Briggs, Elizabeth Lang and Sian Blunt, who made significant contributions by helping to run busy workshops.

Those in attendance were split into four groups appropriately named Matthew, Mark ,Luke and John, and under supervision made be-jewelled biscuits, year round calendars, crowns for a king, and light of the world t-lights.

An Epiphany slide-show featuring Alphonse the Camel, games, music, storytelling and singing sessions added to the enjoyment of the church’s first event for 2014.

Family members Deryn and Nathaniel Anstock and Byron and Sophie Elliott, who are related, agreed that the Holiday Club was a great way to kick-off the new year.

“We have had so much fun and the organisers have been lovely,” they said.
