Brave Corey lived his life to the full

Brave Corey Gregory, a young Hucknall lad who lived life to the full despite suffering from a rare immune system condition has died just days after moving from the town.

Corey (11) who lived with his mum Laura, dad Stephen and sister Chloee at Bolingy Way until recently, died on 15th July at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

His dad Stephen said he was proud of his ‘lovely bubbly vibrant little boy’ who charmed everybody who knew him.

Mr Gregory 35, said: “People always knew when Corey was in the room and when he was in hospital he still lit up the room.”

In 2005 Corey and Chloee (15) were both diagnosed with the rare Apeced Syndrome which damages the immune system and makes sufferers susceptible to infections.

Corey was unable to go to school at first and had to be fed through a tube in his sleep.

He later attended Bracken Hill School in Kirkby where he flourished. Stephen said: “When he went to Bracken Hill he came out of himself - the staff there were brilliant.”

The family had moved to Kirkby just 11 days before he died.

Corey’s health deteriorated in May when he contracted surgical pneumonia after a stomach operation at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

He was put on a ventilator and transferred to the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

Hee was admitted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where his condition worsened . His funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday 1st August at Bramcote Crematorium.
