Anti-social behaviour can ruin people’s lives and make them feel vulnerable and isolated within their own homes.
That’s exactly why Nottinghamshire Police is committed to tackling the problem within our communities.
Anti-social behaviour has dropped by 33 per cent in the area in the last year – that’s potentially over 1,000 fewer victims.
That’s a substantial achievement which is down to the continued work of local police officers, our partner agencies, and the people who live and work in Mansfield and Ashfield.
There have been 37 per cent fewer calls about anti-social behaviour this month alone in comparison to the same period last year.
Members of the public might also be taking more time to consider whether an incident is actually anti-social behaviour. Afte all, youngsters gathering outside a shop might be annoying to some, but the reality is they are not committing an offence.
Police have also been carrying out increased high-visibility patrols in hot spot areas, assisted by Mansfield District Council community protection officers.
By patrolling on Friday and Saturday evenings, they have managed to reinforce the message that anti-social behaviour simply will not be tolerated.
Encouraging results are particularly evident in the Ravensdale area where, between June and September, anti-social behaviour fell by 42 per cent. Incidents of this nature usually increase during the summer months but the work of the police and the community has obviously paid off.
Anti-social behaviour in any form will not be endured and we will continue to deter offenders by having a visible police presence in the community at key times.
Only by building on the results we have already achieved can we achieve peace of mind for everyone who lives and works in our community.
