Budding artists of all ages and abilities can get creative at The Workhouse’s ‘Big Draw’ event on Saturday 8th October. Costumed interpreters dressed as Workhouse staff and paupers will be on hand to act as models and various artefacts will be on show as still life subjects.
Alternatively, the striking Georgian architecture of the Workhouse building, its austere dormitories and day rooms provide a wealth of opportunities for sketching.
Local artist and retired art lecturer, Ashley Dukes, will be on-hand to offer advice to visitors at his ‘art surgery’ in the old schoolroom. People can bring existing artwork along or seek feedback on work inspired by their visit.
Paper, pencils and clipboards will be available on the day, free of charge.
l Normal admission charges apply for visiting The Workhouse (National Trust). The event runs from 12 noon- 4pm.
