WALKERS are invited to take their four-legged friends to Clumber Park and help raise money for people living with cancer. Dogs and their owners can join in with Macmillan’s Big Walk on Saturday 8th September.
The event, supported by Boots UK, aims to raise £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support – money which will fund essential cancer care services. It is hoped 2,000 people will register for the walk.
Alex Talcer, National Event Programme Manager for Macmillan, said: “The Big Walk is open to all, and that includes dogs, so feel free to bring them along. More than 200,000 people are living with cancer across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
“Each one of them could need our help so we want to raise as much money as we can to fund Macmillan services. Join us for a great day out and help raise money for people living with cancer.”
There are two routes - the 10 mile route is a woodland and forest trail while the two mile walk is a combination of woodland trail and tarmac surfaces, suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and mobility scooters. All ages are welcome for both routes with walks starting at 10am.
To register, visit macmillan.org.uk/bigwalk, phone 0300 1000 200 (9am-5pm Monday to Friday) or text BIGWALK to 88080 (texts cost standard network rate). Entry is £10.
