A prolific and abusive shoplifter has been banned from a number of shops in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Ricky Lee Butler, 30, of Lawrence Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was made subject of a criminal behaviour order last week which bans him from the following stores for the next three years:
• McColls in Kingsway, Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
• McColls in Walesby Drive, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
• Tesco Express in Lowmoor Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
• W Boyes in Lowmoor Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
• Original Factory Shop, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
Police said the order was obtained in an effort to halt Butler’s shop thefts and threatening and abusive behaviour towards shop staff.
The order was granted upon conviction on three offences of theft and criminal damage with a further four offences of theft being taken into consideration.
PC Paul Carter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Butler is a prolific shoplifter who is abusive, threatening and confrontational to shop staff in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
“He has threatened a significant number of retail staff with violence and also threatened to cause damage to their personal property. The order was granted upon conviction on three offences of theft and criminal damage with a further four offences of theft taken into consideration.
“Butler has been told in no uncertain terms the consequences he faces if he breaks the order.”
If he breaches any of the conditions he can be arrested and upon conviction be sentenced to up to five years in prison and/or a £5,000 fine.
