HEALTH bosses are reminding patients to call their usual surgery number if they need to speak to a GP when their surgery is closed on Bank Holiday Monday.
Anyone who needs medical help will then be directed to the out-of-hours service, while residents are also reminded to order repeat prescriptions from their local surgery or pharmacy in good time.
Laura Saxton, clinical commissioning manager for NHS Derbyshire, has urged patients to plan ahead of the weekend.
“We want people to have fun and stay safe over the bank holidays, and a little bit of forward planning will really help with that,” she said.
“Although other emergency NHS services will be operating over the Bank Holiday weekend, the majority of pharmacies and GP surgeries will be closed so it’s best to plan ahead and pick up repeat prescriptions in plenty of time.
“Anyone needing to see a doctor out of hours should call their surgery as usual and they will be redirected to an out-of-hours GP.”
