Attempted robbery at New Houghton home

DETECTIVES investigating an attempted robbery at a house in New Houghton are appealing for information.

At around 9.30pm on Monday, 29th April, four men broke into a house on Chapel Street through a patio door.

One of the intruders hit the occupant with what is thought to be a baseball bat. The victim, a 53-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The intruders then searched the house but nothing was stolen.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident.
