Controversial new figures have revealed an increase in the number of pupils leaving school with five or more GCSEs has dropped dramatically in recent years.

The figures, published by the Department of Education have shown schools across Ashfield are falling below the national average of 53.4 per cent.

The average for the county is 58 per cent.
