The search is on to find, and reward, local heroes in Ashfield who can hailed for their kindness or unselfish behaviour.

Ashfield Chad has got together with the Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton in a new project that is all about saying thankyou.

Four times during the next year, Idlewells will be offering £300 to spend in the shopping centre as a reward to someone who is nominated a ‘Local Hero’ for doing a good deed, putting others first or going that extra mile.

“We know there are many heroes in the world,” said Chloe O’Donnell, manager of Idlewells. “While recognising those special people, we would like to use this scheme to reward those who have made a difference to somebody else -- perhaps in just a small way.

“This could be a one-off act of kindness or an everyday attitude towards the people around them.”

Examples of reasons for nomination may include: returning a lost purse; sparing time for others; looking after a pet; or exceptional customer-service.

The idea is similar to Idlewells’s Community Fund Scheme, which is also backed by Chad, and has helped many good causes in the district.

Nominations are invited all year round via www.idlewells.co.uk, the Idlewells Facebook page or by e-mailing chloe@ashdownphillips.com.

All nominations will be reviewed by a panel, comprising members of the Idlewells team, Ashfield Chad team and special guests, such as volunteer retailers and regular Idlewells customers.

Initial rewards will be made in June 2015, October 2015 and February 2016.

Each winner will be featured in the Ashfield Chad and receive a certificate and £300 worth of vouchers to spend in the Idlewells stores of their choice.
