Mums and dads have been brushing up on their artistic skills to paint a picture of Mansfield life.

A unique project to teach Samworth Church Academy students and their parents art has culminated in a joint exhibition of their work on display at Mansfield Library.

The exhibition inspired by the past and present changing landscape and heritage of the Mansfield area has been described as a wonderful experience by those taking part.

Samworth Church Academy Art teacher Aimee Richmond, said: “I would like to thank all of the parents and students who have participated in the evening classes each week.

“It has been wonderful to see confidence and skills develop.”

Kerry Knight took the class with her daughter Amelia. She said, “To be able to do something jointly with my daughter at the school has been thoroughly enjoyable. I couldn’t imagine at the start that I would have a painting on display, I haven’t painted since school.”

Thomas Poyser (age 15), a student at the Academy did the class with mum Wendy. Tom said, “My mum is as into art as I am and does it in her spare time so she was happy to join in the class.”
