Apprentices take over Charnwood Training Group Academy’s Twitter feed.

Two apprentices working in the Charnwood Training Group Academy on Sutton Road in Kirkby have commandeered the company’s Twitter feed and will be tweeting their experiences of being an apprentice learner with Charnwood over the next 12 months as they complete their training programmes.

16-year-olds Joe Peck and Conan Brooks, who live in Arnold and Huthwaite, respectively, began work in the Academy in September 2012 and are studying towards their Level 2 Award in Hospitality.

Under the tutelage of academy manager Craig Harrison, Joe is working front of house, while Conan is learning the ropes in the kitchen.

Said Craig: “Social media plays such a big part in the lives of young people these days and we wanted to give our apprentices a voice in a forum where they’ll be heard by fellow learners, but also employers and other organisations involved in the hospitality industry throughout the UK.

“This will give us a fantastic ‘apprentices eye view’ of exactly what it’s like to be in their shoes and could prove very enlightening.”

The learning that Joe and Conan complete with Charnwood will set them up to find employment opportunities in the Nottinghamshire area once they graduate. Anyone interested can see what they have to say by following www.twitter.com/Charnwoodnews
