A SECOND man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a stolen chemists’ van and a number of robberies in Nottinghamshire.
The 27-year-old was arrested on Thursday (19 July) on suspicion of robbery. He was bailed on Friday evening, pending further enquiries.
The van, which contained prescription drugs, was stolen from outside Acorn Pharmacy in Main Road, Jacksdale, at around 9am on 6th July.
Police believe it went on to be used in three robberies and one attempted robbery later that day. Three happened in Sutton and one in Huthwaite, where a purse and a mobile phone were amongst the items stolen.
Three Derbyshire police officers suffered minor injuries in a collision involving the van at around 9.15pm that same day in Riddings, near Alfreton.
The van was recovered, and although the drugs were not inside the vehicle at that time, they have since been found.
John Ward (30) of Victoria Street, Ironville, Derbyshire, was arrested following the collision. He was charged on 10th July with dangerous driving and driving with no licence or insurance. He was remanded into custody.
