Anger at Ashfield Leisure Centre email blunder

The company which runs leisure for Ashfield District Council has been left red faced after it sent out and email to hundreds of residents inviting them to join a leisure centre which had closed two months earlier.

Everyone Active sent out an email to people living in Huthwaite asking them to sign up to the Huthwaite Leisure Centre, which closed at the end of July this year.

The email stated: “Join Huthwaite Leisure Centre before 8,00pm on September, 30, 2017 to save £35.”

It went on to say how once joined you would be entered into a competition to win a holiday in Portugal or France.

The mistake has left a local councillor fuming.

Councillor Lee Anderson, District Councillor for Huthwaite and Brierley, who has been bombarded by residents, said: “I am embarrassed for the residents.

“I know there has been some reorganisation but there is no excuse for it being sent.

“It is bad enough that it had to close but an reminder to be sent by email is unacceptable.”
We are currently waiting for a response from Everyone Active.
