Alfreton police appeal for witness after electricity pole incident

Police in Alfreton are appealing for witnesses after an electricity pole was attacked leaving 900 homes without power.

At around 7.30pm on Sunday, 22nd July offenders cut through the electricity pole off Birchwood Road trying to steal copper cables.

The offenders cut through the electricity supply causing a mini-explosion which resulted in the pole setting on fire. The shock would have resulted in the person responsible receiving injuries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone has any information about the incident or who knows someone who has come home with burns to their face, neck or hands.
