Advice to Stop Bullying In Sport launch

A new Active Ashfield Campaign to advise young people about bullying in sport has been launched.

‘Stop Bullying In Sport’ information cards giving advice to children and young people are available to clubs and leisure centres to hand out to youngsters who take part in their sporting sessions.

The council’s sports development team consulted with youngsters in local clubs to help make the information young people friendly and to offer advice about different types of bullying and where to go for help in the local sporting environment.

Denise Richards, sports development manager at Nottinghamshire County Council and chairman of the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding in Sport Group said: “It is excellent that Active Ashfield partners have embraced the Anti-Bullying agenda and have consulted with the young people in local clubs to ensure the information suits their needs.”

Coun Jim Aspinall, Portfolio Holder for Prosperity, covering health and well being added: “This is a great campaign to tackle an issue which is becoming more and more highlighted through the use of social media sites

“The consultation with young people makes it much more relevant to them.”
