Residents in Stanton Hill will be able to pick up some new skills on their doorstep thanks to a new partnership between Ashfield District Council and West Notts College.
Held at NOSH (New Opportunities for Stanton Hill) on Albert Street, the first course ‘An Introduction to Nail Art” starts on Friday 6th June from 9.30am to 11.30am for five weeks.
This is followed on 24th June with the start of a further five week course on how to create a Teddy Bears’ Picnic-themed cake.
Portfolio holder for regeneration at the council, Coun Jim Aspinall, said: “These courses are part of the wider regeneration plans for Stanton Hill.
“The courses are “taster” courses which will offer people a great chance to meet new people while learning new skills. If there is the demand, further courses will be provided to develop people’s employability skills.”
Peter Rowley, team leader for adult and community learning at the college, said: “Our community learning team provides more than 300 courses in local venues across Ashfield and Mansfield every year.
“We’re always looking to expand our provision by delivering the types of courses that people want, and in locations that are convenient to them.”
Advanced booking of a place on the courses is essential - call Mansfield 413602 or FREEPHONE 0808 100 3646.
Courses are for people aged 19 or over. The cost is £2.50 per hour or free if you are in receipt of a means-tested benefit (proof required at enrolment).
There will be a £5 resource fee required from all learners for each course.
