A joint initiative to get more people active across Ashfield has received a Government award and praise by Olympic ambassador Sebastian Coe.

Ashfield District Council, together with Sports Leisure Management (SLM) who manage the authority’s leisure centres, have pledged to get 500,000 under 16 year-olds engaged in physical activity by 2015.

The commitment to achieving this forms part of The Legacy Games Project, inspired by the 2012 Olympics and is driven by a joint pledge to build a sustainable activity and health legacy in communities around the country.
