Ollie Hynd, Ashfield’s London 2012 Paralympic hopeful, is challenging people of all ages and abilities to take part in the Active Ashfield Family Fun Run at Ashfield School on Sunday 15th April.
The challenge provides a fun opportunity for all finishers to pick up a medal after walking, running or taking on the wheelchair mile.
Registration takes place from 9am, followed by an upbeat service from the 11 Alive Church Group, after which, Brocky Broccoli and Peggy Pineapple, Ashfield’s healthy mascots will join participants in a fun warm up.
Other free activities will be provided throughout the morning and the comfortable Charnwood Catering Centre will be open for a chance to relax and enjoy a drink or snack afterwards.
Entry is £4 per person if you sign up on the day with all entry fees being donated to O.A.S.I.S. (Olympians from Ashfield Support In Sport).
Carol Hallam, sports development officer at Ashfield District Council, said: “This is a great chance for local people to show their support to Ollie before he embarks on his final push in training for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and we hope it will be the biggest turnout ever.’
