A38 reopens in Sutton after police fear for safety of woman

The A38 in Sutton in Ashfield closed last night after police feared for the safety of a woman.

The road was closed in both directions between its junctions with Sutton Road and Alfreton Road at rush hour. It reopened around 7pm.

Facebook users showed their concern for the woman last night.

One user said: “I came home early from work. The woman was threatening to jump off the bridge I saw a man trying to talk to her and coax her down, I do hope they talked her down.”

Another user added: “I hope she is safe that’s all that matters.”

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said this morning that the woman is safe now.
