RSPCA chiefs are urging the owner of this African grey parrot to come forward after he was found in Mansfield.
The bird was spotted on the pavement outside a garage on Debdale Lane on 1st September.

A passer-by managed to pick the parrot up and take it to the garage, where it stayed until RSPCA inspector Keith Ellis collected it.

The parrot, which has a ring on its leg and is in good condition, is currently at the RSPCA Chesterfield Animal Centre, where it will stay until the owner can be found.

Said Insp Ellis: "I'm sure there must be an owner who is missing the parrot as it is extremely friendly and sits on your hand and has obviously been well cared for."

It is thought the parrot belongs to someone in the Mansfield area as it is unlikely to have flown.

  • Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 and ask to leave a message for Keith Ellis. Potential owners will be asked to verify the bird's ring number.
