ANGRY Rainworth traders have hit out at the recently installed speed humps in the village, saying the ramps are losing them business.
Bosses at Brettle Windows, Rainworth Motors and Vale Carpets say the speed humps on Southwell Road East are unnecessary and driving shoppers away.
"We don't want the humps. They are a nuisance and are stopping people from visiting our firms down here," Alwyn Brettle, of Brettle Windows, told Chad.
And Dennis Allcock, of Vale Carpets, backed his comments, saying the traffic calming measures are 'the final nail in the coffin for some of the businesses on Southwell Road East'.
"There's no need for them and we will almost certainly lose trade," he said.
But Nottinghamshire County Council highways chief Peter Thom told Chad that Rainworth residents had called for something to be done about the speed cars travel through the town.
"I think we've found a happy medium," he said. "The humps are of a relatively gentle design andwill stop cars speeding dangerously."
