UNION bosses are urging people to have their say on plans by Nottinghamshire County Council to make savings of £33m from its budget — before a deadline later this month.
The authority launched a consultation in November on its budget proposals, which include selling off all its care homes, increasing care charges for the elderly, closing certain day centres and shutting all County Contact Points.

They are also pl
anning to make around 470 staff redundant

A statement released by Unison said: "As if all this wasn't bad enough, it has been made very clear that worse, much worse, is to follow.

"If action isn't taken now to protect public services, there may be very little left in five years' time.

"This is not what people voted for last year — but it isn't too late for everyone to say what they think."

The authority says it needs to make the savings to bring in a freeze on Council Tax and reinvest more funds in care for the elderly and disabled and protecting children at risk.

The consultation ends on 22nd January and the plans will be voted on by full council on 25th February.

This is where Cameron and his goons are going to make the hundreds of Millions of pounds worth of savings at local level? We are going back to the dark ages of the Tory times.

Not only here Nidge it,s happening in Leicstershire. When the £80,000,000 pounds worth of cuts kick in, in the next three years some people will be kicking themselves that they did not vote at all or voted Tory. As I have posted here before see Nottinghamshire County Council and see the future if the Tories get in to run the country.

Redone, what about Nottingham City?

Your Labour mates are doing the same as your sworn enemies are at NCC.

Sign og the times don't you think?

MansfieldFirst is that an indication that you agree with the budget cuts and the attack on jobs and services. As for Nottingham thats for them to decide it is not my voting area, but rest assured if were my arguments would be the same.
