MANSFIELD'S first full-time gay venue is to open its doors for the first time in the town centre next week.
The Social, formerly the Roadside, on Stockwell Gate, is planning to open for business from 19th November with a special launch party on 21st November.

Joint managers Alan Fretwell, of New Houghton, and Scott Whyley, of Hucknall, say there is a demand for a gay venue in Mansfield.

"AndWhyNot has gay events which are always packed out, but at the moment if someone wants to go to a full-time gay bar or club they have to travel as far as Nottingham or Sheffield," said Alan.

"The bar is in a great town centre location where people can easily drop-in for a drink on their night out in Mansfield.

"Everyone is welcome at the bar which we think will be well received and attract more people to the town."
