A MIXED-USE neighbourhood centre will be built in Forest Town after plans were given the green light by councillors.
Vivienne Clements applied to build the centre, which will have a range of facilities, including seven shops, two takeaways, a play centre, nursery and 92 parking spaces, on land off Sandlands Way.

Outline planning permission for the development was granted in 2004 following a public inquiry – but some residents objected to the plans, saying there could be traffic problems and they did not want more takeaways in the area.

Members of Mansfield District Council's Planning Committee approved the plans, but set certain conditions about litter, odours, CCTV and closing times.
