EAST Midlands in Bloom judges Sharon Thomas, second left, and Richard Tomlinson, third left, are given a tour of Mansfield Market Place by the town's mayor Tony Egginton, watched by council officers.
The judges from the Royal Horticultural Society toured a number of parts of the district to look at the quality of the floral displays, cleanliness of streets and street furniture, including visits to Titchfield Park, Carr Bank Park and Oak Tree Heath Local Nature Reserve.

Mr Egginton said: "Mansfield in Bloom is a wonderful event, which brings the community together.

"There has been a tremendous amount of work carried out in the last few months — not only by the district council but also by community groups, local businesses and volunteers.

"I am proud of the work carried out by all of them and would personally like to thank them for the hard work and commitment to the cause."

Last year Mansfield won the small cities category of the East Midlands in Bloom competition to go forward to the national Britain in Bloom competition and will be judged for this in August.
