A MANSFIELD district councillor accused of laughing at the residents affected by the fault in the district heating system at Sandy Lane says it was a nervous reaction.
Coun Heather Henshaw, portfolio holder for housing for Mansfield District Council, said she was reacting to an 'out of the blue' question about a rent strike, when being questioned on an edition of BBC's East Midlands Today.
She was on the programme to talk about
the faulty system which left some residents without central heating for three weeks."It was a nervous reaction to something that had never been mentioned previously, and the BBC has had an official complaint from the council," she said.
"It has always been my intention to do all I can to improve the standard of housing in Mansfield, and I have been working, along with officers, for the last seven years to reach that aim. I will continue to work hard for the residents of Sandy Lane and the district."
