COMMUNITY leaders in Rainworth will write to council chiefs to demand work is carried out on a 'disgusting' part of the village.
Residents had been told that work would be done to clean up the area behind homes on Kirklington Road – but a Rainworth Parish Council meeting was told on Thursday the job had not been completed.

Council chairman Coun Mark Buttery said: "The council said it had done the work, but it is a poor job."

And one angry resident told the meeting that shrubs in the area had not been touched for two years and the street was filthy.

She said: "Nottinghamshire County Council is very good at forcing this incinerator on us but is not able to come out and see to a few shrubs."

The council has been given a £1,000 grant for two specially designed bins to cut down on littering at the new Preston Road play area.

The hard-wearing bins cost £375.50 each but the meeting was told they are 'kid-proof' and will help keep the park clean as there are currently no bins at one end of the play area.
