CHRISTMAS has come early for a Warsop couple who feared their daughter would spend the festive period in care after their home was damaged by a fallen tree.
Chad reported last month how David and Jayne Potter, of Birkland Avenue, were forced to put disabled daughter Sarah (18) into care after a 120ft Poplar crashed into a conservatory and bedroom extension built for her during strong winds.
But now a Nottingham-based builder Don Fox has stepped in to save the day after hearing about the family's heartbreaking plight.
"He came up the day after I spoke to him and he had a look and said it was no problem and he'd get some boys up and sort it for us free of charge," said David.
"We just couldn't believe it. He had all the stuff delivered on Thursday last week and came up Friday with five lads and got everything sorted."
The delighted couple are now putting the final touches to the rebuilt extension, which had taken them two years to save for and build to allow Sarah –– who suffers from severe cerebral palsy –– to stay at home while preparing to study at Mansfield's Portland College.
Added David: "At the moment we're just on the decorating, Jayne has been up since 6am trying to get it all sorted.
"Sarah is a little bit poorly at the moment so we want all the paint fumes to be cleared before she comes home again, but hopefully she'll be back in a few days.
"It really is amazing. He's just a really down to earth, fantastic bloke –– we're really pleased that it will all be sorted in time for Christmas."
