COMMUNITY leaders have united to condemn the racist vandals who carved a swastika and the letters 'BNP' into the door of a Mansfield mosque.
Police are investigating after Mansfield Jamee Masjid, on Goodacre Street, was targeted and have helped install a new CCTV system following a number of similar incidents.

But the nature of the most recent graffiti attack has been met with widespread outrage from politicians, police and religious leaders.

Runu Ahad, secretary of Mansfield and Ashfield Bangladeshi Association (MABA), which runs the mosque, said: "'BNP' has been scratched on the door three times – the latest one appeared as soon as we painted over the letters from the previous incident.

"We've had ongoing problems, we've had windows broken and we've had break-ins. It's a place of worship and these people have no regard for a place of worship. It's a constant issue of us having to repair it, then it gets done again."

I sense an election coming so a Swastika here and there will be beneficial for all parties concerned

I think this says a lot about the BNP - they pretend to be respectable but their followers are often neo Nazis. I doubt youll hear anyone from the BNP condemn this vandalism - theyll either deny it happened or blame it on the police trying to fit them up or some other conspiracy nonesense. The simple answer is - the BNP are a racist party full of thugs.

2 issues here. Firstly these obvious racist attacks are appalling and totally unacceptable. Secondly, they are most likely not done by the BNP. As an example did Andy Perry carve "MTFC" on the wall in Tichfield Park? Probably not.

The BNP are a democratic political party who rely on votes to further their aims. I seriously doubt any genuine BNP supporter would be behind this incident.

This looks to me like the work of one those extreme leftwing groups or their allies. They've used these dirty tricks before elsewhere.

Yes - as predicted the BNP think its a conspiracy. Anthony F thinks its more likely that someone from Unite Against Fascism would risk getting caught and totally blowing any alliance they might have with Muslim communities in some attempt to discredit the BNP, rather than accept that the BNP attract a following of idiots who think its fun to put swastikas on peoples walls. If you look at the company BNP members keep on websites like www.stormfront.org or Vanguard News Network I think its far more beleivable that their supporters include neo Nazis

Unite against fascism have an alliance with the Muslim communities?

Interesting since the ideals of Fascism, and the ideals of hardline Muslims are almost identical.

So let me get this straight. Someone has scribbled BNP on a Mosque door. So why would it be the BNP? They are standing in elections, and have no need to do anything so stupid. Kids do this sort of thing all the time, but there is no millage in that for you is there? A huge fuss was made a couple of years ago when Jewish cemeteries and local Churches in London where being vandalized, it was blamed on the far-right. When Muslims were found to be the perpetrators, it was quietly dropped. So let’s get this in perspective shall we?

To - Rob Smith, St Albans.
The BNP attract a following of idiots? Like the Doctors, Nurses, Accountants, Soldiers, Plumbers etc; on the leaked list?
Who started off the Expenses scandal? Oh yes, it was Michael Barnbrook, retired Police Inspector and BNP candidate for Dagenham in this coming election. Derek Conway was just the start, since then there has been eight more including the Wintertons and Harry Cohen. There are loads of Jewish people in the party now, and do you know why? Because they are terrified of Islam and don’t want another Holocaust. You really haven’t a clue have you? There are many Poles too, and lots of members have foreign spouses, including the man that was smacked over the head with a claw hammer by the UAF. The main parties are scared to death of the BNP, that’s why they are trying to ban them. And you call the BNP stupid?
