A MANSFIELD woman who stole £166 worth of children’s clothes belonging to Debenhams has avoided a prison sentence.
Janette Talbot, 43, of Layton Burroughs, was captured on CCTV leaving the store after emerging from the changing rooms with a shoulder bag which appeared fuller than when she went in.
Robert Carr, prosecuting, said Talbot was arrested after being confronted outside the store.
Simon King, defending, said Talbot , who had admitted the thefts, had been desperate for money after losing benefits.
District judge Michael Davison gave Talbot a community order for three months with a 10pm-6am curfew. He also ordered her to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
