For The Wonderstuff's Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls head for the Bridge Street venue on Friday, 1st August, as part of an extensive UK acoustic tour.

Formed in 1986, the Wonderstuff quickly built up a huge following and were signed to major label Polydor just a year later. They released a series of witty pop singles, including Unbearable, A Wish Away and It's Yer Money I'm After Baby, which became their first top 40 UK chart entry.

Disagreements led to a change in band's line-up in 1990 and in December of that year the Wonderstuff chose not to play Wembley Arena, but instead answered a fan's letter an played at a school in Pontefract, Yorkshire!

The first single from the third album was The Size of a Cow, in April 1991, which reached number five in the charts. This was swiftly followed by Caught in my Shadow which reached number 18, before the album Never Loved Elvis was released in June that year. The group then embarked on a 58-date world tour, taking in the UK, Europe and the US.

The group's profile rocketed when they recorded Dizzy with Vic Reeves and reached number one in the charts for two weeks in November. In February 1992 they had another top 10 hit with Welcome to the Cheap Seats before taking the headlining slot at the Reading Festival.

Tensions caused the group to split in 1994. Miles went to to host MTV's 120 Minutes Show, formed Vent 414 and toured extensively across America.

After industry rumours and pressure from promoters, the Wonderstuff re-formed in July 2000 — nearly six years to the date after they had split.
They released The Wonderstuff Live in October 2007, with tracks recorded at venues and festivals around the UK in 2006.
