LEGENDARY Welsh band Sassafras will be returning to The Diamond in Sutton next week –– after a 30-year absence.
Sassafras gained a large local following during the 1970s after a number of standout performances on the local circuit, including a number of appearances at what was then known as the Golden Diamond.

The band were known for their distinctive country tinged rock sound and impressive work ethic, which saw them play a record-breaking 322 gigs in one year.

Lifelong fan John Buxton –– who organised the Diamond gig –– says he had high hopes the band's return gig on 11th July would be a sell-out performance and attract fans, both old and new.

"There's been a lot of interest from all over," he said. "Hard rock bands are seeing a bit of revival and now young people are starting to discover Sassafras. It should be a great crowd and I've got no doubt it'll be a great night for both young and old."

Tickets are £6.
