GET set for a double take in Mansfield town centre on Sunday . . . as top tribute acts headline Summer Music Sundae.
The free, six-hour music fest will feature five top performers covering a wide range of tastes - as well as the Mansfield 103.2 Roadshow.
Summer Music Sundae, in Mansfield Market Place from 11am-5pm, is all part of the town's annual Summer in the Streets festival — put together by Mansfield District Council in conjunction with Mansfield Town Centre Partnership.
The festival, throughout the summer months, provides free entertainment for visitors to the town centre over several weekends — as well as some weekdays.
And this year Summer Music Sundae is a new event. It all starts at 11am and the first act on stage will be Totally Tropical, a reggae band promising an hour of sunshine songs. They will be followed by a totally different theme, swing, as Paul Pashley takes to the stage for an hour of classic music.
The first of the tribute acts follows, Girls R Aloud, covering all the pop hits from Number One stars Girls Aloud.
Top Michael Jackson lookalike Navi is next up and it is sure to be a thrilling performance! He is reputed to be the world's best Michael Jackson impersonator — and is so convincing that he has acted as a decoy for the world superstar on several occasions and also performed in front of the Prince of Pop himself.
The afternoon's entertainment reaches a climax with Re Take That, top tribute to famous boy band Take That — who promise that you will want them back for good at the end of Summer Music Sundae!
Town centre events and promotions co-ordinator Lisa Vincent said: "We are really looking forward to this new event, the line up is excellent and we have got some really good talent, hopefully with the sun shining it will be a day to rememeber."
The musical theme continues with Party In the Park on 2nd August, the flagship event of the Summer In The Streets extravaganza.
This year's star name is X Factor hit and Eurovision singer Andy Abraham, who will round-off a great day of fun at Titchfield Park.
Earlier girl band Stonefoxx, featuring a local singer, and a High School Musical tribute are among the line-up — together with a variety of local singers.
Summer in the Streets, now in its sixth year, continues every summer weekend with street entertainment in the Market Place. This Saturday, look out for the Oyster Opera Duo, opera singers walking around the town centre to entertain shoppers performing at 12noon and 1.30pm.
And Schools in the Streets, a feature of the festival for the past two weeks giving schools the chance to showcase their talents each weekday lunchtime, comes to an end today, Thursday and Friday.
