Best known as the frontman of The Bluetones, Mark Morriss is set to perform a live acoustic set at The Red Lion Walesby on Saturday 24th October.
Mark Morriss has added this date to his solo UK tour in promotion of his solo album release Memory Muscle.

Although still very much with The Bluetones, Mark has been getting his hands dirty with his own set of songs which he intitially tried out acoustically at open mic nights in London.

Mark is quoted to have said: "I'd just turn up with my guitar, play five or six songs, along with everyone else. I didn't want any special favours, and just enjoyed the experience of stripping things right back down."

In 2008 Mark set about recording his solo work with producer Gordon Mills and enlisting enlisting Grammy award winning composer David Arnold along the way who he ironically met on the set of Little Britain.

Arnold arranged the strings for the album tracks 'How Maggie Got Her Bounce Back', 'I'm Sick' and 'Lay Low' - and he plays piano on 'Unwanted Friend'. The album also features two covers which will be an unexpected treat for those attending The Red Lion.

Memory Muscal is an album balanced with humour. Moriss explains: "I think a lot of comedians want to be rock 'n' rollers and a lot of songwriters want to do stand up," says the singer who himself has appeared in episodes of Little Britain and Spaced.

"Performing these songs as a solo artist over the last few years, I've more often than not found myself feeling stuck somewhere between those two worlds."

Following on from the success had at the intimate acoustic open mic nights Mark has now formed his own backing band The Mummys and with the release of Memory Muscle has hit the road to share these songs with whoever enjoys a persuasive melody and a nifty way with a word.

EvnLi host this night at The Red Lion following on from the success of Chris Helmes' performance back in September, the premier gig which set the acoustic nights at this intimate venue in full swing.
