THIS picture of what is now Outram Street, Sutton, dates from 1870 when the street was called Tenter Lane. The cottages stood on the site of what were later the Co-operative Society premises, now Wilkinsons.
The last tenants of the cottages prior to demolition were Messrs Joseph Scott, I. Wass, J. Jarvis, T. Gregory and D. Dove. The street was named after a local landowner, Mr E. Outram, and was devoid of buildings until 1870 when the first two houses appeared, built by Mr E. Boot.

If you have an old photograph you think might be of interest to other readers, please send it to The Editor, Chad, Jubilee Buildings, Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 1DE, not forgetting to include brief details of the subject matter and your own name and address (plus a daytime telephone number if possible).
